Interview with The President of Loochi LEAD Centre Mr. Godfrey Ogbuehi on a program COVID Watch on Africa Independent Television, AIT.

Speaking on the program, Mr. Godfrey sheds light on the effect of COVID-19 on the microfinance sector. He laid emphasis on the active poor and petty traders.

The pandemic has brought about harsh conditions on the generality of the populace. Many traders and artisans depend on the daily income to survive. The lockdown which came as a preventive measure against the pandemic saw many families wallow in hunger.

The ease of lockdown came with regimented market resumptions. Most markets now open every other day and the result is reduced sales/turnover.

Loochi launched into a lot of markets during this period and we tried to support these market women especially as many banks and financial institutions were also on lockdown.
